
MONTHLY BUSINESS MEETINGS
The Wolverine Dental Society meets monthly, September to June. Each meeting includes a dinner and a guest speaker. Topics are a wide range of subjects from to dental health, dental procedure and managing a dental practice; each providing an opportunity to earn CE credits. All dentists are invited to attend, this is also an opportunity for dentists in the Metropolitan Detroit area to network. Meeting details are listed below.

Diabetes and Oral Health: A Bidirectional Relationship
SPEAKER: George W. Taylor, DMD, MPH, DrPH
Course Description:
The purpose of this course will be to explore the state of evidence regarding the bidirectional relationship between oral health and diabetes. The sources of the evidence presented will include cross-sectional studies, cohort studies, and systematic reviews.
Course Objectives:
The objectives are to describe the following: the impact of diabetes on periodontal health in U.S. adults and children; the impact of diabetes on periodontal health and tooth loss overtime; the effect of periodontal infection on glycemic control; the level of evidence supporting the benefit from non-surgical periodontal therapy on glycemic control; the association of periodontal disease with diabetes complications; and the impact of routine dental care on additional health-related outcomes.
